Clients.

We offer CDM Advisor (CDMA) services to our clients and organisations acting in the pivotal role to assist our clients in discharging their duties under CDM2015. Ensuring compliance with the regulations and with local procedures and processes. Acting as the trusted advisor, with our clients’ best interests at heart.

We have the capability and competence to advise on the procurement and tendering process, providing input into the production of questions for SQ’s and ITT’s. Also, sitting on panels for tender evaluation, consensus meetings, and consensus rationale evaluations.

We advise our clients on competence standards including individual competence, organisational competence, and supply-chain competence. The subject of competence has increased in importance overtime following several incidents and events, including the tragic Grenfell fire, that has highlighted failings relating to competence and professional standards both of organisations and individuals resulting in a public enquiry and the formulation of the Building Safety Act 2022.

We work with our clients from the feasibility stages of their projects, from inception to handover, occupation & maintenance.  Our client relationships include the whole project and structure lifecycle.

Our consultants are closely linked to industry thinking, sitting on regulatory and professional boards, so that they can provide advice and guidance that reflects the current industry thinking and industry best practice.

Information management and the importance of the golden thread. We advise out clients on the way in which building information is made available. For example, the modes of information storage, the importance of one single source of truth, how information is made available, and advice on content / relevance. We offer advice and guidance on the proportionality of information for example depending on what stage of the lifecycle the building is at. Also, while a building is being designed, seeing that information is kept which describes the construction methods and processes and demonstrates compliance with the building regulations.

Principal Designer.

Acting as the principal designer (PD) advisor to assist our architectural and design colleagues across the range of design disciplines, overseeing compliance with CDM2015 and ensuring that best practice forms an integral part of the design development process. We work in partnership with the principal designer and designers to ensure that a co-ordinated approach is taken to design development. Assisting with and implementing the hierarchy of controls and the principles of prevention. Very often we will assist our clients and principal designer organisations in developing the bespoke arrangements needed to coordinate and communicate design. Going further than just the pre-construction phase to ensure that design changes that may have a detrimental effect on health and safety are identified and eliminated during the construction phase. We are very often retained during the construction phase of projects to offer our expertise and guidance.

Designers.

Working with designers and design teams when preparing or modifying designs to eliminate, reduce or control foreseeable risks that may arise during construction and the maintenance and use of a structure once it is constructed. Our input into access, cleaning, and maintenance strategies at the early design stages, actively participating in design risk workshops with designers and stakeholders helping to ensure that meaningful design decisions are made in a timely and efficient way. Likewise for plant and various replacement strategies and future dismantling / demolition schemes.

Agreeing the scope and content of retained information, the mechanisms for gathering information and the compilation of health and safety file information.
